What type of bikes are similar to the Harley Nightster and 883?

Question by : What type of bikes are similar to the Harley Nightster and 883?
I absolutely love the way both of these bikes look, but I am recently married and can’t dish out 5k for even a used one.

What other companies make bikes that are similar, but at a more accessible price point? Should all “sportster” style bikes look similar to these?

How much slower are hybrid bikes than road bikes?

Question by daryl dante: How much slower are hybrid bikes than road bikes?
I like the idea of having the straight handlebars, (why they can’t make brake levers for the straight parts of the bars on modern racers, I don’t know) but I do not want a bike that is much slower than my road bike. If someone out there could guide me correctly…. Thanks.

They do make brake levers for the straight part of a drop bar.

Those levers provide an extra brake position on the tops of the bars
There are performance hybrids that are fast, but they are not suitable for long distance rides. Drop bars offer a variety of hand positions to allow you to shift your grip reducing hand fatigue on long rides

The Benefits Of Electric Bikes

With increased pressure on us all to do our bit for the environment and to get more healthy exercise, push bikes have increased in popularity once again. However, riding a bike to work can prove difficult while riding home after work may be too much if you’re overly exhausted. Electric bikes are more convenient and less expensive than cars and they are an environmentally friendly alternative. They are also faster and less exhausting than non powered push bikes.

Environmentally Friendly

Using the car to nip down to the shop or to get to and from work really adds to your carbon footprint. Every time you start the engine of a typical car you are damaging the local and global environment. Electric bikes, on the other hand, are an environmentally friendly alternative that will reduce your carbon footprint and offer you a clean and green way of getting around.

Faster Than Unpowered Bikes

Bicycles have long been considered a convenient means of transport.

They are also a healthy way of getting out and enjoying a little exercise. However, for travelling to work or getting to meetings they are far from convenient. Electric bikes enable you to travel 20 to 30 miles on a single charge and they are also a lot faster, especially over distance, when compared to standard bicycles with no power other than your muscles.

Convenient

Getting around cities and even some large towns can prove difficult in a car. Traffic jams, one way systems, congestion charges, and toll booths not only add to your journey time but can lead to a stressful and challenging journey especially just before work or after a hard day’s graft. Electric bikes are easier to negotiate through traffic and enable you to get across towns or cities in little to no time.

Cost Less Than Motorbikes And Cars

The escalating prices of petrol and oil have made driving a car more of a luxury once again, rather than a commodity. More and more people are finding it cost prohibitive to run a vehicle for any length of time but electric bikes are not only convenient and green, they are also a lot cheaper to run that a motorcar or even a motorbike.

Onbike.co.uk have a wide variety of electric bikes for sale, available in many styles and sizes to allow you to gain a great quality and competitively priced efficient bike.

What are the hardware differences between hybrid and mountain bicycles?

Question by masvx800: What are the hardware differences between hybrid and mountain bicycles?
How feasible is it to go from mountain (fat tire) to hybrid (thin low drag tire) functions? Can I just change the wheels or is it more involved?

Answer by edward w
some of this will depend mostly on what type of bike youre talkin’ about here. Some cruiser/comfort type bikes will have the exact same rim size as nearly all mtn bikes and will swap with no problem but a 26 and 700 size wheel is NOT the same and there is NO compatibility between tires or frame of the bike including the fork. On a standard 26×2.1 size mtn tire the smallest you could go to is a 26x 1.50 that will fit on that wheel. if you have a French 26×1 3/8 size (S6) tire then the answer is the same….NOT compatible with anything 26″ whatsoever. You cannot change the wheels either depending on the frame/fork you have. All you need to do is change the tires and keep the wheels! Any hardtail mtn bike will work fine as a commuter bike if you change the tires to a thinner and smoother tire for less rolling resistance.
